You are the only one left to save the Earth.  Armed with your one tank ( the most advanced tank ever made on Earth) , you battle a meteor shower and invading alien RED tanks coming to take over the Earth.  Defend Earth!  Good luck!

This game was made in loving memory of one of my favourite childhood TV shows "The A Team"

Long live The A Team!

Press SPACE bar to shoot.  Press direction arrows (UP,DOWN,LEFT,RIGHT) to control the tank.  Good luck!

I really like this game and the simple concept.  I think this would work as a top-down game, too.

Thanks!  You are right!  I originally wanted to make this game a top down, but did not know or could not figure out how to scroll vertically.  I went through several tutorials on the web to learn how to do this and combined my own code along with code I learned from before to come up with this Frankenstein.  I still have to figure out how to include a boss level in this game as is.  Once I figure that out, I am going to rewrite this game as a top down.  One game that sort of inspired this game was an old arcade that was called "Commando" .  If you search on the web you will find this old arcade game.  It ran on those coin-operated booths.

I like the retro-vibe here, too. I played the Commando game on NES many years ago. Kind of reminds me of Contra. Anyways, do you plan on creating new assets for this game?

I would like to, but probably when I am done figuring out the coding aspect.  This game was made with borrowed assets from the internet and other places.  Think of the current graphics as general place holders for other more attractive graphics when the game is done.  It is like a rough copy that needs a lot of good punctuation, good spelling, and good rewrite.  I made some graphics from combining other graphics.  Some I just took from sample games from other people.  The background was just a piece of desktop wallpaper.  When you do a game on your own, you have to figure out the coding first before you even deal with the graphics.  Its two jobs in one.  Even as you code, you have to think of what the game needs to do and the code that can achieve that effect.  The graphics I will make will have to either work in tandem with my code to really achieve the results I want, or change how my code works if I can't make the graphics to help cover my coding shortcomings.  I think if I can figure out a lot of effects with code, the graphics could be greatly simplified.  Unfortunately, I am going to slow down my coding efforts as I am going to spend a lot of time reading up on finance, which is now quickly taking up most of my time with the way the world economy is going.   Kudos for having the time to work on pixel art.  Maybe that could be a business in the near future
